I've actually been to these tunnels in Norway during an official visit to the country. Delegate were briefly shown around the less secretive parts of this compound. To the untrained person, you'd not know that you were so far undergraound as the size of this facility is impressive. I didn't realise that there was so much inforation re 2012 ploating around. I thought it was only in the higher official circles. Theres not much anyone can do about it and theres no garantee that these underground bunkers around the world will be of much use but still its something and will save a lot of people but the question is who will be saved and who decides?

The stuff by Zacharia Sitchin is pretty interesting aswell. His theory is that life on earth was seeded by an alien civilisation who live on Planet X. Apparently Planet X passes through our solar system every XXXXX number of years and the next time will be 2012. Even though this sounds FAR OUT, the way he has linked a number of past events make very interesting reading.
A good one was where he talks about Noahs Ark and the great flood. His version is that the ARK was a genetic seedbank in which male and female genes of every species of plant and animal were stored so that they could be re-engineered after the turmoil of the Great Flood settled. Now the religious version of this is similar but has illogical aspects to it which are countered by the seedbank theory. You couldn't really build a boat big enough to take the actuall animals AND food for them for 40 days AND stop them from fighting and eating each other.
Even today, there are such projects where genes and seedbanks are being created by governments "JUST IN CASE' of some natural calamity...one is in Norway and funnily enough it is called an Ark!!
Maybe there is some truth to this. It is certainly within the remit of Islam that Allah provided advanced knowledge of such things to Noah and we already know that there existed advanced civilizations way before our current one.
Whatever the truth is, it certainly is VERY interesting.

In the above article they imply the axis shift was caused by a buildup of ice at the poles, when in reality there is no weather on Europa. Taken in view of what you have said about the sunspots possible effects, this may be a precursor of whats to come on Earth. Europa is BIGGER than Earth I believe !!

Knowing about it and doing something about it are two different things. I don't thing that NASA or anyone else can actually DO ANYTHING about solar flares. You have to remember that the Mayans, Egyptians and Aztecs were pretty advanced civilizations and accomplished certain things that we can't. This is probably the reason that there is very little "official" acknowledgement of this from the authorities. It would just cause mass panic.
There is actually a LOT of information on the internet about this with variations from aliens arriving in 2012, the return of Jesus etc etc. The common theme in all of these various stories is the year 2012 and they all are somehow linked to the stories from the various Pyramids revolving around planetary events involving the Sun.
Sana's version is the one that I think is most likely but I personally don't think that the word will END...it'll probably just go through some major natural calamities like the earthquakes and storms and stuff...this has been happening more and more frequently each year anyway and for us in Pakistan, we still remember the earthquake in 2005 which was pretty devstating and there has been another one in Balochistan a couple of weeks back.
Hurrican Katrina and others like it have been more frequent aswell in all parts of the world. Sheena, you are in Florida, you must have seen a difference in the weather. Kamran in the UK, you've often mentioned that the weather is going crazy. (Sana, please register so we can know more about you and your part of the world)
No-one really knows for sure EXACTLY what is going to happen but there is too much speculation about 2012 for it to be a nothing.
Maybe I'll build a HUGE basement/bunker somewhere and get it stocked up with the essentials just in case !! ;-)

NASA has already observed shifting magnetic field patterns on the earth over the last century and there are certain areas where this has caused compasses to indicate false readings (the Bermuda Triangle is a known affected area).
If the solar flare is to hit Earth in 2012, it has already occurred many years ago and it is already on it's way to earth so the highest speed radiation from the flare could be the reason for the early effects to already be noticed. The recent increase in earthquakes, superstorms, shifting weather patterns etc. could all be down to this.
So, scientific evidence does point to 2012 as a catastrophic year for Earth. The question is whether the natural effects will slowly increase going towards 2012 with more storms and earthquakes each year or whether the effect will be a catastrophic on.
Will human beings survive...well they have in the past
What are you going to do to prepare for it?
ps. some say that that the heiroglyphics on the Pyramids indicate an astronomical event that is going to occur in 2012 but that it is not the end of the world but just an important astronomical event...possibly an as yet unknown planet/comet passing through our solar system
